Dear Visionary... đź’«

Welcome to our Sunday Student Spotlight series, where every other week we share the story and accomplishments of a Rockwell student or graduate.

Our community is filled with extraordinary healers doing inspiring work in the world, and we're thrilled to share their stories with you.

Meet Dr. Carolyn Goldade

Seattle, WA | Class of 2025 | DFM

In a counseling session at New Hope Wellness Center in Seattle, the conversation rarely stays in one lane.

A client comes in carrying anxiety or navigating a difficult life transition, and before long the discussion has expanded—into sleep, into nutrition, into how the nervous system responds to prolonged stress.

That breadth is intentional. For Dr. Carolyn Goldade, it's the whole point.

Dr. Goldade holds a Doctor of Functional Medicine (DFM) and a PhD in Christian Psychology and counseling. In practice, the two inform each other constantly. The body keeps score, and so does the mind—and she's trained to read both.

"I see emotional health, physical wellbeing, and spiritual life as deeply connected." she says.

A Different Kind of Care

Dr. Goldade came to holistic medicine after observing a gap she couldn't ignore—what gets missed when care focuses only on symptoms.

She wanted to understand why people felt the way they did, not just manage how they felt. That orientation shapes everything about how she works with clients today.

Her approach combines therapeutic support with practical education around lifestyle, stress, nutrition, and nervous system regulation.

What sets it apart, she says, is the integration of compassion, education, and attention to the whole person—body, mind, and spirit.

Health, in her framework, is something to be honored and supported, not simply managed.

"My goal is to help individuals not only process their experiences but also better understand how their bodies and lives function as a whole."

Building Something Bigger

That vision extends well beyond her counseling practice. Dr. Goldade is in the process of building a nonprofit wellness center—a space where people can access counseling, wellness education, and holistic health support under one roof.

For the clients she sees most often, that kind of integrated access matters. Many arrive feeling overwhelmed and unable to pinpoint why, worn down by circumstances that have quietly affected every dimension of their health.

The most rewarding part of the work, she says, is witnessing the shift—from confusion and discouragement to clarity and possibility.

One client described it this way after sustained work together: "I didn't realize how much of this could actually change. I have been in this place for so long, I didn't even realize I no longer know what it feels like to be me...but now? Now...I am free."

Looking Ahead

Adding a Doctor of Functional Medicine to her credentials gave Dr. Goldade a framework to match the instincts she'd already developed—and a few surprises along the way.

The most unexpected? "How much the body wants to heal when properly supported."

That conviction now anchors her counseling work, her nonprofit vision, and the programs she's building to help people understand the root causes behind their struggles and leave with tools they can actually use.

Her advice to anyone considering the path: Stay curious and patient.
