🌼 Dear Student or Subscriber...

Welcome back to our weekly Friday Faves ✨. This is a chance to take a walk with us off the beaten path and explore everyday things, like the products we use (and the ones we don't / won't), and the whys behind it all 🌿.

This series is a place for us to connect and share with you our favorite products and best practices to help you be as holistic as possible, and in return, share your faves with us to be featured with a nod to you.

Feel free to reply back with suggested and fave products you use, and we'll credit you and your socials to build connection and community 💛.

We hope this weekly muse makes your life easier and a bit more interesting… to have your pulse on what we have our pulse on.

This week is all about loving on our pets the holistic way 🐶🐱. After all, they give us so much joy—they deserve the same thoughtful care we try to give ourselves, right?

Trust me, these little shifts can help your cats, dogs, and other beloved pets thrive, while simultaneously supporting a healthier home environment. 🏠

🎼 Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things 🎵

Our Fave Cat Litter 😻 – and how clay can cause allergies in children and adults, making you think it's the cat, but it's the clay! —(at least for most) 🤧

Many moms (and some dads) go out of their way to solve their children's allergies, and sadly, it often comes down to the pet. You have to get rid of the cat (or the dog, gerbil, etc.).

The truth is that the root of most allergies (according to me, in my opinion, as the founder of Rockwell), is leaky gut. Leaky gut manifests in many ways, but there are some key perpetrators, like gluten. 🌾

Many people scoff at gluten still being an issue, 🙄 and for some, it's not. However, the vast majority of us will have issues — namely anxiety — but also as allergies (a tell-tale sign).

Don't take my word for it. Remove gluten and watch your kids' allergies clear up (most will). If that doesn't, dairy will! If you aren't comfortable with that, try ancient grains and A2 milks. 🐄

Regardless, it's not the cat! It's the gluten, dairy, and…. clay! Clay in the litter. This is my favorite litter, because it's the only litter that has no clay, fast clumping, and doesn't smell.

I haven't researched its environmental or sustainability impact, but sometimes, life is moving fast, and it's hard to do that with everything. 🌎

Even so, I can't say there's a better litter on the market (or one that I haven't tried). I've read a lot of terrible things about the litters that change color, so be mindful on marketing trends. Just because Martha Stewart reps it (and she does), doesn't make it smart or safe!

Do your research to find out what's right for you.

*In all case studies where gluten and/or dairy were removed, and clay litter switched out —the preponderance of any real or imagined 'cat allergy' magically disappeared!* 🐈‍⬛ Seriously!

BioKleen Bac-Out – Amazing, natural enzymes for pet odors. 🐾

I get my kitties neutered as soon as they are of age, as doing so early helps prevent inclinations and is ideal to prevent hungry, homeless animals.

Yes, things can get too sterile sometimes, but no one wants an unwanted, unloved animal in the streets in America. 💔

Even when they're neutered or spayed young, some cats may spray under stress, even if they never have before. If another cat comes around and sprays, yours might start too. 😺

Cats who weren't neutered early on are also more likely to spray, which is why it's good to neuter as soon as appropriate, ideally with a vet who knows how to leave the anatomy intact (the kindest, most natural thing to do, so always ask!). 🩺

In any case, on that rare (or all too common) occasion that a male cat sprays or a dog has an accident in the house, this will get it out completely and efficiently.

I like to put it in a nice, large, high quality spray bottle from Everspring (Target).

Those are the best spray bottles. They come in small and large, so make sure you check the one you want.

DNA Testing for Heredity – Ever wondered about your cat’s genetics? 🧬 These tests can give a glimpse into their breed mix and hereditary traits, sometimes even shedding light on health tendencies.

It’s more about curiosity than necessity, but it can be interesting to see what shows up.

Organic Silvervine – A natural alternative to catnip that many cats respond to, sometimes even more than catnip itself.🌿

It comes fresh or dried, and it’s a simple way to bring a little joy and stimulation to your cat’s day.

Caledon Farms Beef Liver Bites – We love that these freeze-dried treats are made from 100% USA-sourced beef liver — nothing else. Just one ingredient, no fillers, no junk, and the nutrients stay intact.

Most dog treats are full of things we wouldn’t want our kids eating — so why give them to our pets? These are clean, family-owned, and an easy way to keep pups healthy and very happy. 🐶

🎶 When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad
