Meet Dr. Christina Fischer

Lighting fires of learning, and awakening the healer within.

Kansas City, Missouri | Class of 2025 | Doctor of Holistic Nutrition

In Kansas City, Missouri, a quiet revolution in natural healing is taking place. At the heart of it is Fire Botanicals, the community-grown herbal business founded in 2019 by Christina Fischer, a clinical herbalist and Rockwell graduate of the Doctor of Holistic Nutrition (DHN) program.

Through Fire Botanicals, Christina has created a space, both online and in her community, where teas, salves, and remedies are more than products. They are invitations to learn, to heal, and to connect with nature’s medicine.

For Christina, the journey to practitioner wasn’t simply about earning a degree. It was about transformation of knowledge, of confidence, and of worldview.

“The turning point for me,” she explains, “was gaining confidence in my role as both a holistic practitioner and an educator.”

Finding Her Footing

When Christina first enrolled at Rockwell, she carried the same doubts many students face.

Could she rise to the challenge of doctoral-level study? Could she embody the role of practitioner and teacher?

At times, the reading lists seemed daunting, and the responsibility of stepping deeper into a healer’s role felt heavy.

But as she immersed herself in the coursework, she began to notice a shift.

It wasn’t just that she had learned the science of nutrition or the principles of holistic medicine. It was that she began to trust herself to apply them. The more she studied, the more she realized she didn’t need to compete with other modalities of healing. Instead, she could collaborate with them.

A Broader Worldview

Her doctoral journey gave Christina a new lens through which to view health and healing. She found herself developing a deeper compassion for the wide spectrum of practices, herbalism, nutrition, bodywork, and even conventional medicine. Each, she realized, had something unique to contribute.

“We all have something to contribute to wellness,” she says. “The more I studied, the more I respected different approaches.”

That worldview reshaped both her business and her presence in the community. Fire Botanicals became a platform where knowledge and compassion were shared side by side.

From Remedies to Education

What sets Christina apart is that she doesn’t stop at making remedies. At Fire Botanicals, education is as important as the products themselves.

When someone buys a tea blend, she explains the herbs inside and their properties. When someone uses a salve, she teaches them how to notice their body’s response and track subtle changes.

“Education is what lights people up,” Christina reflects.

“When clients understand how to use food, herbs, and lifestyle as medicine, they stop feeling dependent on outside systems. They realize they can be active participants in their own healing.”

This philosophy has made Fire Botanicals not just a business, but a hub for empowerment. Each interaction becomes an invitation to take ownership of one’s health.

A Memorable Success Story

One case still stands out vividly in Christina’s mind. A woman had come to her with severe swelling in her knee, pain so debilitating that surgery seemed the only option. Instead of immediately resigning herself to the operating table, the woman turned to Fire Botanicals.

Together, they created a regimen with liniment and salve, focusing on circulation, inflammation, and tissue support. The woman began applying it faithfully, and soon the swelling receded. Her pain diminished to the point that surgery no longer felt urgent.

When she later visited a surgeon, the examination revealed cartilage damage. But instead of invalidating the natural approach, the surgeon’s discovery added clarity. The remedies had provided relief, while the medical evaluation illuminated the structural cause.

“It was a win for all,” Christina says. “The natural remedies gave her relief and restored her mobility, while the surgeon’s evaluation provided clarity about the root issue. That’s exactly how I see healing, a partnership of wisdoms.”

For Christina, this case embodies the very spirit of integrative care: respect for natural methods alongside the precision of conventional medicine.

A Guiding Philosophy

At the heart of Christina’s work is a quote she carries like a compass:

“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” — Hippocrates

It’s a simple truth, but one she returns to daily. It reminds her that healing doesn’t always come from complex interventions. Often, it begins with the everyday choices we make, the meals we prepare, the herbs we brew into tea, the ways we nourish the body and spirit.

This principle guides her work with Fire Botanicals and her vision for the future. Whether she’s blending remedies, teaching a class, or sharing knowledge online, Christina sees every act of education as a ripple that can change how people approach their health.

Lessons Along the Way

The road to becoming a practitioner was not without its challenges. There were late nights of reading, moments of doubt, and times when the intimidation of doctoral study loomed large.

But what Christina learned, and what she now passes on, is that growth happens in those uncomfortable places.

“The biggest lesson was not to let intimidation stop me,” she says.

“You don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin. You learn as you go and you can do this.”

That advice has become a touchstone for her students, her clients, and anyone in her circle considering the leap into holistic practice.

Lighting Fires in the Community

Since its founding, Fire Botanicals has been more than a business. It has become a community-grown movement, sustained by Christina’s conviction that knowledge and compassion belong together.

Every jar, every conversation, every lesson strengthens a circle of people more confident in caring for themselves and their families.

For Christina Fischer, this work is about more than business success. It is about lighting small fires of knowledge and empowerment that help people reclaim health on their own terms.

In Kansas City and beyond, the light of Fire Botanicals spreads, illuminating a path where education and remedy walk together, and where confidence, compassion, and courage are the true medicines of change.
