Are you an online school?
Yep! We're an online school.
How much is tuition?
Tuition information is available on our enrollment page and the individual program pages for each holistic doctorate and practice minor.
Is board certification and licensure available to holistic providers of this class and type?
Yes! Board certification and licensure are both available for holistic providers.
Read more about them here.
Am I really able to order and intepret labs under the medical director program if I reside in the United States?
All U.S. residents can order and interpret functional labs (bloodwork) for themselves and others without intent to treat, diagnose, or prescribe.
Non-U.S. residents cannot.
The key difference between labs from a physician's office and labs outside of one is the quality, choice, and control over testing.
Functional testing is not only different in terms of quality and access but also in terms of interpretation. There are different (more functional) baselines.
Oh! We forgot to mention something very, very important.
Unlike other schools of this class and type, we don't charge $75 per test, nor do we charge for extended program access, updates, and costly student membership fees.
While we're on the subject, Rockwell is an all-inclusive educator, meaning you pay once and access all.
The only outside expenses are licensing and board certification for holistic providers, which is optional but encouraged.
Learn more about the type of licensing and board certification holistic providers qualify for inside our programs.
Is it legal to call myself a doctor?
To our knowledge and based on our original and current research, it is legal to call yourself a holistic doctor in the United States.
There is no legislation against it that we're aware of, but there is legislation against impersonating a physician or calling yourself a licensed medical doctor, MD, if you're not one.
The original meaning of 'doctor' or docere in Latin means 'teacher.'
Holistic doctors use natural, functional, and holistic medicine to target, reverse, and eliminate root causes for total mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being.
Conventional medical doctors treat symptoms and diagnose conditions. Modern medicine, different from both, spurs medical miracles and gives humans more choices in healthcare.
At Rockwell, you become a holistic doctor, as a Ph.D., not a licensed physician MD.
There is professional etiquette regarding how to use 'doctor' in written and verbal forms and in advertising, that differs between PhD and MDs, which we educate you on inside our holistic doctorate programs.
We teach you how to discuss your career as a holistic doctor in conversational settings and in your written communication so you maintain professionalism at all times.
Rockwell, as an educator, exists to give holistic providers the confidence and credibility they want and need, which allows them to practice with dignity and gain the respect that they deserve.
Organizations that offer licensing and board certification to holistic providers do the same.
We always clarify the type of doctor we are in our printed materials and advertising, which is legally required and state-specific to certain modalities.
We never imply we are physicians unless we are. Some of you are.
We encourage total transparency in your practice.
This is why our traditional naturopathic graduates never use ND/NMD, which are professional designations for licensed naturopaths.
Naturopathy is a modality, but when discussing our practice, we use 'traditional' in front of it to avoid confusion with licensed naturopaths.
Naturopaths shouldn't be assumed as traditional or licensed unless otherwise specified. It's polite to specify the kind of naturopath you are.
You can learn more about our Doctorate of Traditional Naturopathy & Natural Medicine® here.
These are the values we hold at Rockwell and what practice ethics are all about.
Titles reserved for licensed medical professionals include MD, DO, NP, RN, ND/NMD, and PA.
Never use these designations unless they legally apply.
We have our own amazing practice titles, and you can earn them all at Rockwell.
Traditional Naturopath Doctor TND® / Doctor of Natural Medicine DNM®
Clinical Global Herbalist, CHD® / Medical Herbalist, MH®
Advanced Holistic Nutritionist, AHN® / Advanced Holistic Nutrition Doctor, AHND®
Spiritual Medical Doctor, SMD® / Doctor of Spiritual Medicine, DSM®
Doctor of Functional Blood Chemistry, DFBC® / Doctor of Functional Medicine, DFM®
You can sign up for a single holistic doctorate or practice minor or enroll in the Rockwell Tri-Doctorate® and gain access to complete all five of our holistic doctorates and seven practice minors.
To gain some perspective, here's an article written by our very first student, Michael Leonardo, PhD, TND, 'Why I Should Be Addressed as Doctor.'
What's an unregulated industry?
People entering these professions should know that traditional naturopathy, herbal medicine, and holistic nutrition are unregulated industries.
This just means there's no legislation regarding their practice, such as educational standards, state licensing, and legal standards of practice.
Spiritual medicine is also unregulated and aconcept unique to Rockwell.
Rockwell has offered holistic doctorates in these increasingly popular and in-demand modalities since 2015 to support, credibly educate, and guide those who wish to practice them.
Both licensed and unlicensed providers can practice functional blood chemistry, which consists of ordering and interpreting labs for themselves or others without offering a diagnosis.
You can request a diagnosis from a physician using the lab results.
In addition to not treating, diagnosing, or prescribing and avoiding such terminology, we provide additional guidelines respective to practice where applicable, including modality-specific contraindications.
Will I get in trouble for practicing medicine as a non-physician?
No, because you won't be practicing medicine or pretending to be a physician.
As a Rockwell-Certified Holistic Provider, R-CHP®, we teach you to work within your scope of practice.
This means you'll never treat disease, diagnose conditions, or prescribe pharmaceutical drugs unless your residing state otherwise licenses you to do so.
The practice model we provide focuses on Ideal Health Theory®.
Unless you're licensed to do so, you won't be practicing medicine, and you'll avoid terminology that indicates otherwise, such as 'treat, diagnose, and prescribe' in your socials, advertising, and client interactions to avoid legal consequences and honor good practice ethics.
Such terminology (treat, diagnose, and prescribe) is legally reserved for licensed medical professionals, including the term 'patient.' Holistic providers use clients instead of patients.
What we teach and what you learn radically differ from the disease care model of conventional medicine.
As long as you don't attempt to treat, diagnose, or prescribe, use the word 'cure' to make claims, and avoid calling your clients patients, you're all set to work responsibly within your scope of practice.
Good providers have morals, ethics, values, and integrity, put people before profits, and practice safely, ethically, and responsibly.
What restrictions are there on title and practice, if any?
A handful of states do not permit the practice of any kind of naturopathy, licensed or traditional.
In such states, licensed naturopaths are legally required to practice as health coaches instead of naturopathic physicians, even though they attended their version of med school, and traditional naturopaths can practice as wellness professionals.
In such cases, our students still complete our traditional naturopathic coursework, but instead of using the title of Traditional Naturopathic Doctor, TND®, they'll use Doctor of Certified Holistic Health, DCHH®, and receive a unique certificate of completion that only graduates in these situations are eligible for.
Inclusion of the Doctor of Natural Medicine, DNM®, is left at the provider's discretion.
ND/NMD are professional designations reserved for licensed naturopathic physicians or medical doctors.
What insurance options are there for holistic providers in practice?
